A Letter to my Triplets on their 10th Birthday

To Abby, Reagan & John,

I can't believe you are 10 years old.  It seems like yesterday that I was at a routine doctor's appointment, and he came in singing "Happy Birthday."  The following 6 hours were a blur, kind of like the first four years of having you.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  I am so lucky that I get to be your mom.  You are the 3 best things that have ever happened to me. Having you has taught me so much about myself & life.

I wanted to do something to mark this special birthday.  Something from my heart that you will always have and can take anywhere with you.

You are loved by so many other people and me (most).  There will be days that you feel like you are alone.  Remember, you are not alone. You are loved for who you are.

  • Stand out.  Be different.  Be whoever you want to be.

  • Be kind with your words and actions.

  • Win or lose with Grace.

  • Don’t run from your emotions. Talk. Express them. Deal with them.

  • Never stop playing.  It is good for the Soul.

  • Dream. Go for it.  I will always be there to support you.

  • You are my warriors. So very smart and strong.

  • You are the best gifts I ever received.  You bring me so much joy!!!

  • You won’t be friends with everyone.  That is ok.  Find your people.

  • Always say hi and go out of your way to make the new kid a school feel welcome.

  • If you see someone at school always alone at recess, invite them to play with you.

  • Being a triplet is unique.  Cherish it.

  • Always have each other's back.  Put each other first.

  • Be brave.  Don’t let fear get the best of you.

  • You are never alone.  You have each other.  Your father and I.  Friends and family.  All you have to do is reach out if needed.

  • I will always be a phone away.

  • You lived through a pandemic. No kid should ever have to go through that.  Be proud of yourself.  If you learned anything else from the pandemic.  Make time for the things that matter to you.  It doesn't matter if they are big or small.

  • Be a good friend.

  • Listen.  Being a good listener will strengthen all of your relationships.

  • Laugh.  Never let age stop you from being silly.

  • Share for no other reason than it is a nice thing to do.

  • People can have different opinions than you.  Never make someone feel bad for having a different viewpoint than you.  Be respectful.

  • Smile.  It can change someone’s day.

  • Nothing worth having is worth taking.  Earn it.

  • Appreciate the gifts and the life that you have.  Don’t be envious of others.

You are all amazing. I can’t wait to see what you do and where you go in life.

Happy Birthday, A, B & C!!!!

I love you to the moon and back times 10 plus infinity times google plex.

XOXOXO
