Covid...........1 Year Later

1 Year Later

If you asked me at this time last year how long would Covid be affecting us in the US, I would have said it would have been contained by the end of July beginning of August. It saddens me that we are still dealing with this, and life as we know it will forever be altered. It saddens me that the triplets are getting robbed of a portion of their childhood. It amazes me that at different paces, they have all adjusted to this new reality: Google Classrooms, E-Learning, big birthday parties, and sporting events, care-free playdates, masks, social distancing, sitting behind plexiglass, hugging friends, vacations. I miss those too. The list goes on and on.

There were some positives in all the "pivoting" we had to do.

- Before Covid, my husband, traveled every Tuesday-Thursday. Because of Covid, the triplets got to spend more time with their dad. More tuck-ins, more dinners made by daddy, more memories.

- Along the same lines, my brother lives nearby, and we got to him, my SIL, and my niece and nephew more. This is because they didn't make any big trips over the summer or any holiday break.

- Before Covid, my husband, traveled every Tuesday-Thursday. Because of Covid, the triplets got to spend more time with their dad. More tuck-ins, more dinners made by daddy, more memories.

- Because Justin wasn’t traveling I was able finally to get an Abdominoplasty.  Wish I did it sooner.  Good-bye back pain.

- We started playing soccer as a family every evening.

- My husband would tell you that he learned to appreciate space.

- From my kids:

  • John- Fewer days of school.

  • Abby, I got to sleep with Mommy & Daddy for 3 months (anxiety from Covid) and no chance of getting Lice at school because you have to stand so far apart, LOL. That makes this mommy happy too.

  • Reagan said she likes having the plexiglass at school. You can hang things on it, use sticky notes and decorate them with dry-erase markers. Most of us could learn something from her perspective on this.

  • All 3 think it is excellent they now offer free lunch at school every day.

With that being said, I am looking forward to Covid being more controlled in 2021. I will get the shot(s) when I can. We need to move cautiously forward and start enjoying things that we once did.

We are starting to plan our trips for the rest of the year. The triplets are terrific travelers both in the car and by air. This is what we have so far:

• May- Walt Disney World to celebrate the triplet's 1oth birthday.

• June- Triplet's solo trip with Justin. The location is TBD

• End of July/beginning of August- Triplet's annual trip to AZ with Mommy.

• November- We are toying with going to St. Thomas over Thanksgiving break.

I hope you all continue to stay healthy. Let us know if you have any questions.
